Arc of Training and Education for the Ruderman Inclusion Ambassadors
Hillel International provides the Ruderman Inclusion Ambassadors and their Supervisors specialty training, so they are prepared and empowered to work with their campus Hillels to use an inclusion-informed lens to engage with students, staff and community members.
Training goals for the year:
- Learn best practices for talking about inclusion during one-on-one interactions with students;
- Integrate students with disabilities as organizers in this work and identify potential inclusion campus partners;
- Explore Jewish traditions, perspective and relationship to disability inclusion; and
- Gain tools and strategies for helping their Hillel become more inclusive.

Student Ambassadors use the materials and training in a variety of ways that have helped inform their work and impact their campuses:
- “My partner and myself learned at the Ruderman training to work with Disability Services. Beginning to form this relationship with them was so eye opening to me, learning about the struggles students are going through, but also through how much they appreciate the work we are doing and how they want to be involved with it.” Ruderman Inclusion Ambassador, Ohio State University
- “The head of the girls soccer club spoke to me about her social anxiety and stress in her college experience. I gave her the self care checklist from our learning session. She used it leading up to finals week and said it helped her greatly.” Ruderman Inclusion Ambassador, Pace University
- “Thanks to our Ruderman training, this year our Hillel has added an extra line on our flyers that says: **if you need special accommodations please contact Rabbi Rose** We also make our fonts bigger too.” Ruderman Inclusion Ambassador, Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach
