Rachel Kraus of Solon has been named the 2017-2018 Roslyn Z. Wolf Cleveland-JDC International Fellow.
BEACHWOOD, OH — The Roslyn Z. Wolf Cleveland-JDC International Fellow is Rachel Kraus, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland announced. Kraus will spend a year in Israel working with Israel-Unlimited and the Israeli government.
“I am honored and humbled by this recognition. I cannot thank the Wolf family enough for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to engage in such meaningful work in service of the global Jewish community,” Kraus said.
Kraus will be working to develop programs to meet the needs of disabled people living in Israel. She will also be working to help integrate people with disabilities into Israeli society.
Luckily, Kraus is already a pro at traveling the world. She spent a gap year, between high school and college, in Israel. She then studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. She then graduated from Brandeis University, with a major in psychology and international and global studies.
Kraus is currently a teacher’s assistant at a daycare and a kindergarten Hebrew and Judaic teacher.
“The best part about the fellowship has been the opportunity to explore and better understand Israel’s most vulnerable populations through JDC’s work throughout the country,” Kraus said. “It has been a privilege working with them thus far, and it makes me realize how much more work we still have to do.”
The Wolf Fellowship was created in memory of Roslyn Z. Wolf, a trustee for life of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. Wolf worked diligently to improve the lives of Jewish people locally and around the world.
